Celtic FC Foundation's Sleep Out at Brother Walfrid’s London parish

Friday 6th October 2017

FOLLOWING the launch of our November 11 Celtic Sleep Out event at Paradise, Celtic FC Foundation are delighted to announce a brand new version of the initiative in London.

It will take place on Friday, November 24 and is an integral element of our 2017 Christmas Appeal, which will be formally launched later in the coming weeks.

The event will take place in the grounds of St Anne’s Primary School in Whitechapel and the venue holds huge historical and emotional significance for the Celtic Family.

In 1892, six years after his leading role in the formation of Celtic Football Club, the Marist Order moved Brother Walfrid from Glasgow to the Whitechapel area of London’s East End.

Over the next 15 years, as Head Teacher at St Anne’s Primary, Brother Walfrid transformed the school and also established local boys’ clubs and a project to provide meals to the poor in the local community.

In honour of our Founding Father, the London Sleep Out participants will spend the night – from 10.00pm to 6.00am – battling the elements outdoors, under the stars, all for a wonderful cause.

The introduction and briefing elements of the event will take place across the road, at St Anne’s Church, where Brother Walfrid lived during his time in London.

Registration for the Celtic Sleep Out, London is now open and you can sign up HERE

All we ask is that you commit to raising a minimum of £130 (after entry fee) - in honour of the Club’s 130th Anniversary - for Celtic FC Foundation’s 2017 Christmas Appeal.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  The non-refundable registration fee is £30 per person.  Please ensure you read the Terms and Conditions thoroughly before committing your agreement and signing up.

Due to anticipated severe weather conditions, this event will be exceptionally challenging, both mentally and physically. Therefore, participants must be aged 18+ and be in an appropriate physical condition to take part.

Celtic FC Foundation will provide a ground mat and foil sheet/blanket but participants are required to bring the appropriate equipment and wear relevant clothing and footwear.

All funds raised will support our 2017 Christmas Appeal, which reflects the very essence of why our club was set up back in 1887.

The appeal will help families and pensioners who face poverty and hardship and a number of charities who care for those experiencing the torment of homelessness or other disadvantages.

So please follow in the footsteps of Brother Walfrid and help us make a difference to the most vulnerable in our community this Christmas. Thank you so much for your wonderful support!
