London calling for Glasgow pupils

SARACEN Primary on Keppoch Campus is part of Celtic FC Foundation’s digital and music programmes. The Foundation also supports the school in young enterprise activities.

A group of pupils from the school recently visited London on an enterprise education trip and took in visits to meet senior executives at Macandi, Kurt Geiger and Universal Records.

Pupils’ and parents’ interest together in fashion, dance and music in school has exploded with the success of the school’s Osmania hip-hop dance team, following the Foundation-arranged visit of internationally-acclaimed fashion designer Osman to the school last term.

The highlight of the London trip was a red-carpet experience at the Scottish Fashion Awards courtesy of Hartmann Media.

The pupils and teachers, Evelyn Gibson and Maureen Barber, are pictured here with Celtic directors Brian Wilson and Brian Duffy, who were both honoured at the ceremony with major awards.

Evelyn Gibson, head teacher at Saracen Primary, said: “The staff and the parent-teacher council very much appreciate this support from Celtic.

“The aspiration is very much there if the opportunities can be accessed and we’d like to thank the Foundation for its commitment to our school and its community.”

Tessa Hartmann of Hartmann Media said: “Fashion is a success story for Scotland on a global scale and fashion education is very much part of the awards night and the whole Scottish fashion awards movement.

“It’s great to see young Scottish talent fostered all through school and we were delighted to support this initiative.”
