Scottish Cup semi-final clash for Celtic Women

IT’S Scottish Cup semi-final time this weekend for the Celtic Women’s team as they take on Glasgow City today, Sunday, October 6 (KO: 3.15pm).

The match at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility gives the Hoops their last chance of silverware this season, and they’ll be hoping to get past Glasgow City and reach the final.

It´s free entry to the game and the team are hoping that as many Celtic fans as possible get along on Sunday to cheer on the Hoops.

Celtic Women’s manager David Haley: “This game is one that the players have been looking forward to ever since the draw was made.

“Obviously the tie pairs us with Glasgow City once again and we know that this is going to be an exciting game to take part in and one which both teams will be desperate to win.

“We’re confident about how we are playing just now and know that we can cause problems to any team. This is a group of players that I trust immensely and I´m confident that we can put on a performance that everyone can be proud of.

“I hope that the game is a spectacle for everyone and both teams provide an entertaining game that showcases the talents of both teams. Obviously however, we want to come out on top on the day.”

And Celtic defender Rhona Jones is hoping that the team can put an inconsistent season behind them with a strong performance against Glasgow City on Sunday.

“We’ve stuck together and fought through it and that alone shows a lot of determination and character from a young group of girls who have had a lot to deal with this season mentally,” Jones said.

“We´ve learned a lot about ourselves and each other this season and we are stronger because of that. We believe we have a very good chance on Sunday to turn the tide but are fully aware that a win will take everyone giving everything they have until the final whistle.

“There is a real buzz about the camp right now. I believe we are prepared and ready.”
